Leinfelden‑Echterdingen/Hanover – Mercedes‑Benz Trucks Germany and the Commercial Vehicle Center Hannover are jointly realizing the Actros L Art Edition. The initiative originated at the end of 2025 as an initial concept idea and evolved into a collaborative project in early 2026. As part of the cooperation with artist Sven Liesy, the Actros L ProCabin receives a completely reinterpreted exterior design. The result is a vibrant one‑of‑a‑kind vehicle that combines design, individuality, and the performance of a premium long‑haul truck. The vehicle will kick off its tour on April 7 as part of a nationwide roadshow across Germany and will be on display at numerous Truck Centers until May 23rd 2026.
“Art is more than a medium – it is life, it is color, it is expression and boundless imagination,” is how Liesy describes his artistic approach.
Blending Technology with an Artistic Signature
Liesy began his work at the dealership on January 15, 2026, completing it on March 10. The design translates elements of neo‑expressionism onto the visual language of the cab. As a result, the ProCabin becomes a visible intersection between the commercial vehicle world and art. The Art Edition unites core characteristics of the Actros L - such as efficiency, comfort, and optimized aerodynamics - with the artist’s individual visual language. The vehicle embodies a perspective that merges technology, design, and cultural exchange. The project demonstrates how a truck can function as a communicative element in public spaces, reaching new audiences from professional drivers to the general public.
Insights into the Creative Process
During the roadshow, Liesy will be present on selected days to work live on a canvas. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe his creative process and ask questions. The artistic implementation illustrates how a commercial vehicle can create a new impact outside of traditional exhibition spaces. The tour will also make a stop at the Truck Grand Prix in July, where the Art Truck will likewise be showcased.
Artist Profile: Sven Liesy
Born in 1987 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Liesy lives in Hanover, Langenhagen. He is an autodidact whose neo‑expressionist style is expressed through acrylic on canvas and on unconventional surfaces, including vehicles and textile materials. His works have been exhibited in Hamburg, Berlin, Madrid, and at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Despite being red‑green color‑blind, he creates powerful, color‑intense pieces that convey emotional depth. His themes draw on everyday moments, animal motifs, and abstract forms. Liesy is also involved in social projects and art workshops.
