The Mannheim plant is the center of competence for city buses of all drive types as well as part of the Daimler Buses production network. The plant was founded in 1908 in Mannheim-Waldhof on the Luzenberg.

In addition to conventionally powered city buses, the fully electric eCitaro also comes off the production line at the site – the battery electric model since 2018, and since 2023 also the eCitaro fuel cell with a hydrogen-based fuel cell to extend the range.
