SDGs

We see ourselves as part of the solution

In 2015, the United Nations adopted a central guiding principle for global sustainable development. At its heart are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Based on the assumption that shaping the world in a sustainable way can only be done with closing ranks, these are voluntary guidelines for politics, society, science and companies. At Daimler Truck, we create the future on our roads and in line with this understanding, we are making a contribution to achieve these goals especially since many of the SDGs are directly related to sustainable transport or sustainable passenger transport.

Our focus is on those SDGs where we can make a real difference through our business model and our value chain.

SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth

In our own units and the supply chain, we will develop and implement a risk-based management approach to protect human rights and provide decent working conditions.

SDG 9 Industry, innovation and infrastructure

We bring battery- and hydrogen-based mobility in a holistic way on the road, focusing on digital services, comprehensive safety and assistance systems for automated driving. In this way, we are shaping the sustainable transport of goods and people in the future. With the expected benefits, for example in terms of safety and climate protection, we are demonstrating the potential of such innovations for our society.

SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities

With offerings such as fully electric city buses and trucks, as well as holistic e-mobility systems, Daimler Truck is promoting sustainable transport and sustainable passenger transportation in urban areas.

SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production patterns

We are working to increase the efficiency of our vehicles and significantly reduce raw material use. One of the tasks is to strengthen primary material-cycles for our electric vehicles. In this way, we are paving the way for sustainable production patterns.

SDG 13 Climate protection measures

With our sustainable business strategy and the associated ambitions for reducing emissions from our vehicles, plants and supply chain, we are making a concrete contribution to global climate protection.
