Ten facts that demonstrate our sustainability progress in 2025

16.03.2026 | Sustainability

In 2025, we continued to advance sustainability – fully in line with our principle “at the speed of right.” This is also reflected in our second Sustainability Report, which we prepared in accordance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) (Sustainability chapter on pages 71 to 157).

Here we highlight ten facts that illustrate our progress in the 2025 financial year in the areas of climate and environmental protection, circular economy, and responsibility toward employees and society:

CO₂e emissions in production reduced by around 43%

We reduced our CO₂e emissions at global production sites (Scope 1 and 2) by around 43% compared with 2021. This means that we have already achieved our self-set target of a 42% reduction by 2030 ahead of schedule.

Nevertheless, we continue working to further reduce CO₂e emissions in production.

Global sales of battery-electric vehicles increased by two thirds and further expansion of the electric truck and bus fleet

In 2025, we sold 6,726 battery-electric trucks and buses worldwide (2024: 4,035 units), corresponding to an increase of around 67%. We now offer series-produced battery-electric vehicles in more than 50 countries – ranging from light-duty distribution trucks and heavy-duty long-haul trucks to city buses. With the second-generation Mercedes-Benz eActros 400 and the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro interurban bus, which was presented in autumn, we are consistently expanding our portfolio of locally CO₂e-free vehicles.

22.1 MWp: Global Parts Center in Halberstadt produces more electricity than it consumes

The Global Parts Center in Halberstadt (Saxony-Anhalt), which went into operation in summer 2025, features a rooftop photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of 22.1 MWp – one of the largest rooftop solar installations in Germany. It generates around 20.6 million kWh of solar electricity annually, exceeding the site’s own energy consumption. In addition, the site uses heat pumps, surface heating systems, battery storage systems and green roof areas.
Globally, we increased our installed solar capacity by approximately 59% to 64.6 MWp in 2025 compared with 2024.

Five and a half times around the world locally CO₂e-free with hydrogen: Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck fuel-cell trucks in customer trials

As part of the first customer-focused trials of the hydrogen-powered Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck, five prototypes covered more than 225,000 kilometers in logistics operations with customers. This distance corresponds to around five and a half trips around the Earth at the equator. For the same distance, comparable diesel trucks with an average gross combination weight of 25.6 tons would have required approximately 58,000 liters of diesel, resulting in around 154 tons of CO₂e emissions1.

–50% energy consumption: the new Mercedes-Benz eActros 400

The second-generation Mercedes-Benz eActros 400, which entered series production at the Wörth plant (Rhineland-Palatinate) at the end of 2025, features two battery packs with a total capacity of 414 kWh2 and consumes up to 50% less energy than a comparable diesel truck.
The actual eActros model range also offers significant savings potential over the entire lifecycle: depending on the electricity mix, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 can save up to 871 tons of CO₂e in long-haul operations compared with a diesel truck. In 2025, it was in regular customer use in 15 European countries.

Electric mobility also for intercity travel: up to 500 kilometers locally CO₂e-free with the new Mercedes-Benz eIntouro

In 2025, we presented the series version of the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro for the first time. The eIntouro is our first battery-electric intercity bus. Up to two battery packs with a maximum capacity of 414 kWh enable a range of up to 500 kilometers without recharging, depending on driving style, topography and weather conditions. This makes the fully electric eIntouro suitable for school transport, intercity routes, company shuttle services as well as excursions and short trips.
In the future, the eIntouro will also benefit from the development of dedicated public charging infrastructure. Charging stations are planned at tourist hotspots across Europe to enable the operation of battery-electric buses even on routes to more remote destinations.

One third less CO₂e through remanufactured high-voltage exchange batteries

Our remanufactured high-voltage exchange batteries generate around one third fewer CO₂e emissions than newly produced batteries. They are used as exchange components in the Mercedes-Benz eEconic as well as in the eActros 300 and 400. In addition to reducing emissions, this also lowers material use and costs, making it a concrete contribution to the circular economy.

Awards for sustainable mobility solutions

Awards for sustainable mobility solutions

In 2025, we received the German Sustainability Award for the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro family.

Our project “Electrify Inbound Logistics” was also honored with the European Transport Award for Sustainability by the magazine “Transport” from Huss-Verlag. By the end of 2025, around 30% of transports to the Wörth truck plant were locally CO₂e-free, including the Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 / 400 of the first g and 600.

Our environmental commitment was also recognized in the United States: our subsidiary Thomas Built Buses received the “Steward of the Year” award from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality for particularly advanced measures in resource conservation and sustainable production.

21.3% women in leadership positions worldwide

The share of women in leadership positions at Daimler Truck increased globally to 21.3% in 2025 (2024: 20.5%). This brings us closer to our ambition of 25% by 2030, while strengthening diversity, fair opportunities and inclusion across all levels of the company.

Social engagement: €5.31 million in donations and 57 humanitarian aid convoys

As part of Daimler Truck Cares, we donated €5.31 million worldwide in 2025, supporting 229 projects. In addition, we organized 57 humanitarian aid convoys. Volunteer helpers transported around 450 tons of relief supplies over a total distance of 110,000 kilometers.

Through our “Seeds of Change” initiative in Saltillo, Mexico, we reached thousands of people in 2025: 80 lectures, 16 conferences, 1,600 participants at environmental fairs, 6,000 participants at government events. In addition, 2,200 trees were planted, and around four tons of waste were collected during environmental activities. The initiative received the Diamond Level Green Office Certificate.

The Sustainability Report can be found on pages 71 to 157 of Daimler Truck’s Integrated Annual Report 2025.

The ESG Fact Book, which contains the key sustainability KPIs, is also available online.

Sustainability at Daimler Truck

Sustainability is an integral part of our core business and our business activities. We want to decarbonize transportation and passenger transportation and drive the industry-wide transformation. In this way, we act and assume responsibility for the benefit of the environment as well as people and society – on the basis of responsible corporate governance.

To achieve this, we focus on three areas of sustainability: Planet, People and Performance

  • Planet: We are committed to the Paris Climate Agreement. We want to make sustainable transportation and passenger transport a success and thus contribute to climate and environmental protection.
  • People: We take responsibility towards society and our employees. Where we can make a contribution to change something for the better, we do it.
  • Performance: We envisage that business performance, unlocking profit potentials and sustainability initiatives go hand in hand, so that our responsibility for people and the planet are integrated into our core business.
