Stuttgart - On the occasion of the recruiting event "Daimler Truck Reboot Camp" at the Truck Campus in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Jörg Howe (Head of Global Communications Daimler Truck AG) spoke with Jürgen Hartwig (Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck Holding AG, responsible for Human Resources and Labor Director) about how the job market has changed in recent years, the importance of team spirit at Daimler Truck, and why diversity and variety are of central importance to the company. "The labor market has fundamentally changed. Well-educated applicants are free to choose the environment in which they would like to work," Jürgen Hartwig describes the current situation.
"We are launching various recruiting activities, as can be seen at the Daimler Truck Reboot Camp." The aim of such activities is to specifically draw the attention of young talents, for example from the software or electric drive sector, to Daimler Truck. For applicants, right now is an exciting time: "Daimler Truck is a young company where you can help shape its new identity." The company is in the unique situation of having just emerged as an independent DAX group from the split-up of Daimler AG and yet being able to look back on a tradition that goes back more than 100 years.
The new Daimler Truck Campus near Stuttgart is also an expression of this new identity, as a company that is obviously focused on commercial vehicles: "We wanted a campus that reflects our corporate culture and brings employees together. The campus is a meeting place that is open, bright and transparent, and at the same time opens up the possibility of being close to our products."
For his work at Daimler Truck, Jürgen Hartwig, himself a passionate soccer fan, sees parallels to sports: "It's about togetherness, about exchange, about helping each other. It's about overall success."
Jürgen Hartwig has a clear stance on sustainable corporate management, often abbreviated to ESG, for Environmental, Social and Governance: "ESG should be viewed holistically as a deep internal commitment. This includes, for example, attractive and sustainable working conditions and additional benefits for our employees.
In this context, the cooperation with Volvo Trucks in the Cellcentric joint venture, which plays a central role in Daimler Truck's dual-track strategy, is unique. Jürgen Hartwig: "The powertrain transformation is a huge effort that requires high investments. At Cellcentric, we are tackling the transformation together. Once the basics are in place, we can put vehicles on the road with our specific concepts from Daimler Truck with the different brands."
