Leinfelden-Echterdingen / Hannover – Against the backdrop of global crises, increasing extreme weather events, and growing demands on emergency services, INTERSCHUTZ in Hannover will open its doors on June 1, 2026. At the leading international trade fair for fire and rescue services, civil protection, and security, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will present a broad portfolio of mission-specific vehicle solutions.

Daniel Zittel, Chief Sales Officer Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks: “Emergency services today are facing increasingly complex challenges, for example due to large-scale incidents and extreme weather events. With our vehicle solutions, we aim to provide support exactly where reliability, off-road capability, and operational readiness are essential.”

Extensive portfolio for a wide range of scenarios

At stand R66 in the outdoor area, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will showcase its comprehensive portfolio for modern firefighting operations — from a four-axle Arocs configured as a large-capacity tanker fire truck to the highly off-road-capable Zetros, designed for use as a heavy logistics equipment carrier (GW-L gr).

The vehicles exhibited at INTERSCHUTZ include:

  • Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4158 8x6/4 configured as a GTLF-A 16000 by Rosenbauer International AG and operated by the Salzburg Fire Department. The large-capacity tanker features a 16,000-liter water tank, a 500-liter foam tank, and a high-performance pump with an output of 5,500 l/min in pump-and-roll mode. The water monitors at the front and on the body deliver outputs of 1,600 and 4,000 l/min respectively.
  • The Mercedes-Benz Atego 1630 AF 4x4 TLF 4000 by Schlingmann is built on the new single-tyre 16-tonne weight variant. It features axle loads of 6.1 tonnes on the front axle and 10.0 tonnes on the rear axle, combined with off-road tyres in size 365/85 R20. The vehicle is powered by the proven 300 hp inline six-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm. Power is transmitted via an Allison six-speed fully automatic transmission in combination with a selectable transfer case. Thanks to the heat-resistant protection of all critical brake and electrical lines in the underbody area, as well as a water fording capability of up to 800 mm, the vehicle is ideally suited for operations involving wildland fires and flooding. The vehicle also complies with the current GSR II regulations and is equipped with the required driver assistance and safety systems.
  • The Mercedes-Benz Econic 2635 L DLA(K) 42 (turntable ladder with rescue cage) by Magirus combines a 42-metre aerial ladder with the advantages of the low-entry concept. Despite the larger ladder assembly required for the extended ladder length, the vehicle's overall height remains below the standard maximum height of 3.30 metres applicable to most fire service vehicles. This is made possible by the Econic's low-floor cab design. As a result, the vehicle is particularly well suited for urban operations. The seating position in the Direct Vision cab, featuring panoramic glazing, places the driver at eye level with other road users and enables direct communication through eye contact. Especially during emergency response driving in dense urban traffic, this represents a significant safety advantage over conventional truck cabs. The steered trailing axle also ensures that the vehicle remains comparatively manoeuvrable despite its size.
  • Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 5025 4x4 configured as a TLF 3000 with an increased water tank capacity of 4,000 liters by Schlingmann. Featuring 1,000 Nm of torque and 185 kW / 252 hp, outstanding off-road capability thanks to portal axles with 500 mm of ground clearance, differential locks that can be engaged while driving, and a fully integrated tire pressure control system, it is equipped for demanding operational scenarios. Additional features such as a 1,200 mm wading depth, a factory-installed heat protection package, a round roof hatch, and exceptional climbing ability — while meeting GSR II requirements — make the Unimog an ideal companion for forest and vegetation fires as well as operations in flooded areas. The body structure mounted on the torsion-flexible chassis frame is made entirely of stainless steel.
  • Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 530 4x4 configured as a TLF 4000 by BAI Brescia Antincendi International. The Unimog implement carrier features an engine output of 220 kW / 299 hp, permanent all-wheel drive, portal axles, differential locks that can be engaged while driving, a 4,000-liter water tank, and a front-mounted water cannon with an adjustable flow rate. Thanks to its narrow overall vehicle width of only 2.3 meters — consistently maintained throughout the body design philosophy — and compliance with GSR II requirements, it is particularly suitable for narrow off-road tracks as well as operations in urban residential areas or historic old-town districts. Particularly noteworthy is the factory-installed, height-adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension on the rear axle, which — in conjunction with factory-implemented clearance measures — provides, for the first time, the necessary preparation for bodywork-side fulfillment of Terrain Category 3 requirements. Furthermore, flexible level control is available to facilitate ergonomic equipment retrieval and rear-mounted pump operation.
  • Mercedes-Benz Zetros 2745 6x6 configured as a GW-L gr by Göbel Fahrzeugbau GmbH for the state of Lower Saxony. The vehicle is equipped with a 450 hp six-cylinder engine, a permanent all-wheel-drive system with mechanical differential locks, up to 1,000 mm of fording capability, a tire pressure control system, and a logistics body with a vertical lift.

Tailor-made solutions through close collaboration

Mercedes-Benz Trucks places special emphasis on close collaboration with renowned body manufacturers in Germany and across Europe. Together, they create mission-specific vehicle solutions precisely tailored to the needs of fire departments, aid organizations, and public authorities.

The body manufacturers involved in the vehicles exhibited at INTERSCHUTZ include BAI Brescia Antincendi International Srl, Göbel Fahrzeugbau GmbH, Magirus GmbH, Rosenbauer International AG, and Schlingmann GmbH & Co. KG.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks implements numerous custom modifications through its Custom Tailored Trucks (CTT) unit. This enables vehicles to be specifically adapted and equipped for particular operational profiles.
