Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Hamburg – Daimler Buses will be presenting solutions for the challenges of transport companies today and tomorrow at the UITP Summit 2025 in Hamburg from 15 to 18 June 2025. The focus is on sustainability, economy and digitalisation of electric mobility for city buses. From 2026, the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro will be equipped with a new, even more powerful and particularly durable fourth generation lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery. An eCitaro with such an NMC4 battery will be at the UITP Summit for the first time. At Daimler Buses, electric mobility, including the planning and implementation of the charging infrastructure, is available from a single source ex works, as are the appropriate digital services. Thanks to the new Digital Services Package, new buses are on the road with digital services right from the start.
World premiere of the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC4 battery
The centrepiece of Daimler Buses’ stand at the Hamburg UITP Summit 2025 will be a Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, the model for success among electric buses. The exhibited two-door solo bus not only stands for an exemplary driver’s workplace, recognised high driving comfort and excellent safety. It also represents a world first: For the first time, Daimler Buses is exhibiting an eCitaro with the fourth and thus latest NMC4 battery generation. The new NMC4 battery generation combines a high energy density, enabling longer ranges, with a very long service life. The battery’s longer service life is achieved thanks to more gentle charging, with a maximum charging capacity of 150 kW, as well as regular rapid charging processes, with a charging capacity of up to 300 kW. The new NMC4 batteries will be used in the eCitaro, eCitaro G and eCitaro K from 2026.
Daimler Buses Solutions: all electric mobility from a single source
Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH advises transport companies and actively supports them on their journey to electromobility. The company specialises in designing, building and advising on electromobility infrastructure. In cooperation with experts from Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH, Daimler Buses can supply the entire eMobility ecosystem from a single source on request: from the feasibility analysis to individually configured electric buses and the complete electromobility infrastructure – including construction measures, electrical installations, charging infrastructure, battery storage, charging management systems and other digital services.
Omniplus: speed-related geofencing and other new digital services
Omniplus does not only have the largest service network in Europe; its European network of specialist eBus service outlets is also growing all the time, too. In terms of digital services, Omniplus is expanding its range with additional services not only for electric buses. For example, from this year, all newly delivered buses from Daimler Buses will receive a so-called Digital Services Package as an option with three years of free usage for diesel buses and six years for electric buses. Another new feature is the Omniplus On monitor location services plus for speed-related geofencing. This allows you to set up zones with restricted maximum speed. When a fleet bus enters such a zone, the vehicle’s speed limiter is automatically activated so that the set maximum speed can no longer be exceeded. This increases safety and helps to avoid penalties. Omniplus On Battery Monitoring was developed specially for electric buses, providing fleet operators with information on the condition of the high-voltage battery and recommendations on optimum use. The free Warranty Status service offers insight into the warranty status of the battery and provides support in the prevention of possible warranty violations.
