Leinfelden-Echterdingen / KVG Kieler Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (KVG) and Daimler Buses have signed a contract for the delivery of 28 battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro articulated buses. In addition, the agreement includes an option for five further vehicles. The contract award followed the company’s success in an EU-wide tender.
The contract signing was attended by KVG Managing Director Andreas Schulz, Mayor Dr. Samet Yilmaz, Markus Fischer, Head of Public Transport and Authorities Sales Germany at Daimler Buses, KVG Head of Operations and Technology Anneke Borchert, KVG Commercial Director Hauke Evers, as well as Lino Janke and Thorsten Gallo from the Daimler Buses sales organization.
“With the procurement of the new eCitaro G, KVG is consistently continuing its expansion of emission-free mobility,” said KVG Managing Director Andreas Schulz. The company’s fleet currently comprises 218 vehicles, including 122 electric buses.
Economic efficiency and sustainability: key criteria for winning the tender
The decision in favor of the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G was driven in particular by the criteria of operating and follow-up costs, KVG’s technical requirements, the high-voltage concept, as well as sustainability aspects. Delivery of the vehicles will begin with a pilot vehicle in the third quarter of 2027. The full delivery of all 28 eCitaro G buses will take place in the fourth quarter of 2027 and in the first quarter of 2028.
