Mercedes-Benz Trucks Showcases Comprehensive Portfolio for Modern Construction Site Operations

27.07.2026 | Mercedes-Benz Trucks

At the COREUM off-road event venue, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is providing insights into its current portfolio for applications on and around construction sites. The focus is on hands-on driving experiences featuring key technologies such as the Turbo Retarder Clutch, Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive, as well as digital and service-oriented solutions. In addition, the event offers an opportunity to take a closer look at the new battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eArocs 400.

Journalists will have the opportunity to test the vehicles themselves at several stations along a demanding off-road course and learn more about the underlying technologies and application scenarios in accompanying training sessions.

Our Equipment Highlights

  • Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive

For diesel trucks in the Actros and Arocs model series, the switchable hydraulic front-wheel drive system, Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive (HAD), significantly eases demanding tasks. The system operates at speeds of up to 30 km/h and provides the required level of additional traction to handle challenging gradients and situations, even on slippery surfaces. Compared with conventional all-wheel drive systems, HAD also offers advantages in terms of reduced fuel consumption and lower weight.

Additional traction is available at the touch of a button: the Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive (HAD) supports the front axle with up to 450 bar of hydraulic pressure. A high-pressure pump mounted on the engine transfers this pressure and generates up to 40 kW of additional drive energy per front wheel. This allows slopes to be mastered effortlessly while ensuring that extra traction is available whenever it is needed.

  • Turbo-Retarder-Kupplung

The fluid coupling is another feature designed for tough conditions. As a combination of a hydraulic start-off clutch and a retarder within a single component, it enables smooth and precise maneuvering, even under heavy loads and at extremely low speeds – all without wear and tear. Together with the High Performance Engine Brake, the turbo retarder clutch also delivers up to 750 kW of braking power and a braking torque of up to 3,000 Nm – again, completely wear-free.
