112 apprentices and dual students have started their careers at the Daimler Truck site in Mannheim this year. Jürgen Hartwig, Member of the Board of Management, Human Resources and Labor Director at Daimler Truck, visited the young colleagues at the plant on behalf of the entire Board of Management.

The apprentices had the opportunity to talk to him and ask him questions about the company, his person, and his personal career, but also about his tasks in the DAX-listed company. During the joint tour of the training workshop, the new colleagues showed what they had already learnt in the first few weeks of vocational training.

Daimler Truck is focusing on a dual drive strategy: battery and hydrogen. As a center of excellence for battery and high-voltage technology as well as for fully electric city buses, the Mannheim site has a central role to play. I am therefore all the more pleased that so many young talents will support us in this development with their creativity and ideas."

About vocational training at the Mannheim site

A total of around 350 young people are currently completing an apprenticeship or dual study program at the Mannheim location. The Mannheim site provides vocational training in five technical professions and six dual study programs. Vocational training is offered for warehouse logistics specialists, production mechanics, automotive mechatronics technicians, mechatronics technicians and cutting machine operators. There are also the dual study programs Bachelor of Science Computer Science/Cyber Security, Bachelor of Engineering Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering Embedded Systems, Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering Mechatronics and Bachelor of Engineering Industrial Engineering.

Daimler Truck also offers many internships for school pupils as well as internships or theses for students. About the Mercedes-Benz plant in Mannheim

Today's Mercedes-Benz Mannheim plant was founded in 1908 in Mannheim-Waldhof on the Luzenberg. Over 4,600 employees produce engines and related components for commercial vehicles at the site. It is also Daimler Truck's competence center for battery technologies and high-voltage systems, which makes a significant contribution to the series production of the electrified product portfolio. Over the next few months, a pilot line to produce battery cells and battery assembly will be built at the Mannheim site. The foundry at the plant is one of the world's leading manufacturers of cast iron vehicle elements. Engines for commercial vehicles and passenger cars are also reconditioned at the so-called European Centre for Exchange Engine Production. Training and securing the next generation of employees are equally important for the Mannheim site: with over 100 years of experience, young people are trained at the site - a total of over 11,000 young people have completed their vocational training here.

About the Daimler Buses plant in Mannheim

The Mannheim site is the competence center for city buses of all drive types and part of the Daimler Buses production network. The plant was founded in 1908 in Mannheim-Waldhof on the Luzenberg and today employs around 3,300 people in central functions and in assembly. In addition to conventionally powered city buses, the all-electric eCitaro also rolls off the production line at the site - the purely battery-electric variant has been in production since 2018 and the eCitaro with range extender with a hydrogen-based fuel cell to extend the range has also been in production since 2023.
