Vehicle profile: Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC4 batteries
- Battery and range
- Safety, assistance and visibility
- Passenger comfort and interior
The Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC4 batteries demonstrates how Daimler Buses is bringing advances in battery technology to all-electric urban transport. With an energy capacity of more than 550 kWh, this model is capable of replacing conventionally powered city buses while offering an attractive solution for operators, drivers and passengers.
Battery and range
The vehicle on display is equipped with five high-voltage battery packs with a total capacity of 555 kWh. Three packs are located on the roof and two at the rear, a configuration that enables a range of up to 600 kilometres for this two-door bus.
The vehicle is designed for plug-in charging at the depot and offers operational flexibility thanks to charging sockets located above the front axle and on both sides at the rear.
Safety, assistance and visibility
Safety is a top priority in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The eCitaro on display is equipped with MirrorCam instead of conventional exterior mirrors, extending the driver’s field of vision, improving visibility in low-light conditions and reducing dirt accumulation. For precise manoeuvring in depots, car parks or narrow sections of the route, the 360° camera system provides additional support.
The safety equipment includes Preventive Brake Assist 2, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist, the intelligent speed assistant and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (TPM). Safety is also enhanced by the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System and a switchable speed limitation to 33 km/h, which is particularly useful in areas with speed restrictions. Depending on the operating profile, the limit can also be set to other speeds.
Passenger comfort and interior
The interior is designed to provide a comfortable and pleasant travel experience. Passengers are seated on in-house-produced City Star Eco seats, with the seat cushions and backrests of all 35 seats upholstered in black fabric. Green ceiling handrails, ambient lighting with continuous blue light strips above the aisle and windows, and a wood-look floor create a fresh and comfortable atmosphere in the passenger compartment.
The multifunctional area opposite entrance two can be used in a variety of ways: it provides space for a wheelchair or pushchair, a leaning surface facing against the direction of travel with a folding seat, and two additional folding seats facing the direction of travel as an alternative to a standing area. The infotainment system includes a 29-inch TFT monitor positioned behind the transverse duct and 14 double USB sockets for charging mobile devices.
The bottle-green metallic paint finish completes a carefully coordinated exterior and interior appearance. The result is a particularly attractive Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC4 batteries in the all-electric urban bus segment.

Vehicle profile: Mercedes-Benz eIntouro M
- LFP battery and a range of up to 500 kilometres
- Over-the-air software updates via OMNIplus ON
- Coach-level comfort for excursions and short trips
The Mercedes-Benz eIntouro M combines the familiar appearance of the diesel-powered Intouro models with new battery-electric drive technology and a new electronics architecture. The vehicle on display features a bottle green metallic paint finish and retains characteristic design features such as the steeply raked windscreen, the Mercedes-Benz front end with integrated radiator grille and headlamps, and straight, smooth and functional side walls.
Battery and range
The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in the eIntouro M are characterised by their long service life and the ability to use more than 95 per cent of the installed capacity. The vehicle on display is equipped with two battery packs: one located directly behind the front axle and the other in the former engine compartment. With a total capacity of 414 kWh, it can achieve a range of up to 500 kilometres without recharging, depending on driving style, topography and weather conditions.
Over-the-air updates
For the first time in a bus, software updates for the new Mercedes-Benz eIntouro can be transmitted to the vehicle via the mobile network and installed without a workshop visit. This keeps the vehicle continuously up to date while also increasing its availability. Updates are managed via the OMNIplus ON digital services portal. Installation takes place when the vehicle is stationary, the parking brake is applied and the drive-ready state is switched off. Additional functions can also be retrofitted and parameters updated remotely.
Safety and driver assistance
The eIntouro M on display is equipped with the latest assistance and safety systems. These include Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ART) with Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA 6), Traffic Sign Assist, Sideguard Assist 2 and Frontguard Assist for detecting pedestrians and cyclists, Attention Assist and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (TPM).
It also features additional systems such as MirrorCam in place of conventional exterior mirrors and a 360° camera system for a complete all-round view. Automatic body lowering at 78 km/h reduces the frontal area and therefore contributes to the cost-effectiveness of the eIntouro M.
Coach-level interior comfort for excursions and short trips
The passenger compartment has a distinctly coach-like ambience, with Travel Star Eco seats upholstered in dark red, wood-look flooring and curtains in a subtle shade of grey. The vehicle on display is equipped with a toilet in front of the centre entrance, as well as fabric-covered luggage racks with closed bases, reading lights and air vents above each double seat.
The driver’s workplace is driver-oriented and combines ergonomics, design and coach-level equipment, from the multifunction steering wheel to the electronic parking brake..

Vehicle profile: Mercedes-Benz OC 500 RF 1936 chassis
- 48 V mild-hybrid system to reduce fuel consumption and emissions
- High-floor configuration for interurban and regional services
- Produced at the Daimler Buses plant in Sámano, Cantabria
The Mercedes-Benz OC 500 RF 1936 hybrid on display at FIAA 2026 represents Daimler Buses’ offering for operators looking to improve the efficiency of their services without changing their usual operating procedures. This high-floor chassis combines the Mercedes-Benz OM 936 Euro VI E engine with a 48 V mild-hybrid system designed to support the combustion engine during phases of higher energy demand and to recover energy during braking.
Efficiency and hybrid system
The 48 V mild-hybrid system incorporates a 16 kW electric motor. Its function is to assist the combustion engine in situations such as start-up, idling and initial acceleration, while also making use of the energy recovered during deceleration. In this way, the chassis helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining a driving experience similar to that of a conventional vehicle.
Application and configuration
The OC 500 RF 1936 hybrid is designed for interurban and regional services with a high proportion of seated passengers, where comfort, flexibility for bodybuilders and efficiency on medium-distance routes are priorities. The vehicle on display is equipped with a 260 kW engine, a ZF EcoLife 2 transmission, a ZF RL 75 E front axle and a Mercedes-Benz RO 440 drive axle.
Safety and assistance
The chassis incorporates current assistance and safety systems, including Active Brake Assist 6, Adaptive Cruise Control (ART), Lane Assist, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Attention Assist and Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM). These systems support the driver and enhance safety in the day-to-day operation of the completed vehicle.
Production in Spain
The OC 500 range is produced at the Daimler Buses production facility in Sámano, Cantabria, a plant specialising in chassis and recognised as a European centre of competence within the Group. This local production strengthens ties with the Spanish market, operators and bodybuilders.
