Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Personnel change at Mercedes-Benz Trucks: Marcus Ekman (51) will become new Head of Engineering Mercedes-Benz Trucks effective October 1, 2026. Marcus Ekman will succeed Rainer Müller-Finkeldei (56) who has decided to retire end of July 2026 after more than three decades within Daimler AG and Daimler Truck AG.

Marcus Ekman brings more than 25 years of international leadership experience in commercial vehicle engineering, product development, and quality management. He currently is Senior Vice President Truck Quality at Volvo Group, following earlier responsibilities as Senior Vice President Complete Vehicle and Senior Vice President Global Product Development at Volvo Group, and has held various management roles in Engineering at Scania. Across these positions, he has been accountable for end-to-end vehicle development, validation, modularization, quality management, and industrialization within global engineering, with a strong customer focus and a global perspective. Marcus Ekman holds an MBA from Stockholm School of Economics and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.
Rainer Müller-Finkeldei joined Daimler in 1995 and held various Research and Development roles before moving to the truck division in 2004. In 2010, he became Director Mercedes-Benz Trucks Mechatronics, was appointed Senior Vice President Product Engineering and Technology at Daimler Truck North America in 2020 and took over as Head of Mercedes‑Benz Trucks Product Engineering in 2023.
