Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Mannheim – Daimler Truck announces a change in leadership: Effective July 1, 2026, Gerald Tropper (49), currently Head of Corporate Audit at Daimler Truck, will take over management of the Mannheim plant, the engine production facility and center of competence for battery and high‑voltage systems. He succeeds Andreas Moch (58), who will leave the company at the end of July 2026 at his own request, after more than 33 years at Daimler Truck, including 13 years as head of the Mannheim plant.

Yaris Pürsün, Head of Global Powersystems Operation Daimler Truck, said: “I would like to sincerely thank Andreas Moch for his outstanding commitment. He has significantly shaped the orientation and culture of the site and strengthened the future viability of engine production in Mannheim. He has also developed the plant into a high‑performance center of competence for battery and high‑voltage systems. At the same time, I am pleased to welcome Gerald Tropper to the powertrain team and the Mannheim plant. With his strategic expertise and international experience, he will lead the site successfully and continue its consistent development.”

About Andreas Moch and Gerald Tropper

Andreas Moch began his career at Daimler AG in 1993 in the international junior staff program. After holding various positions at the Gaggenau and Untertürkheim plants, he assumed management of L’Orange GmbH in 2001, a subsidiary specializing in injection systems for large diesel engines. From 2005 to 2009, he was responsible for product areas at the Mercedes‑Benz plant in Gaggenau and, from 2009, headed parts logistics in Europe, including the Global Logistics Center. In 2013, Moch took over management of the Mercedes‑Benz plant in Mannheim, with responsibility for engine production, the Mannheim and South African foundries, and sales of powertrain components.

Gerald Tropper began his career in 1993 with an apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic at the Mercedes‑Benz branch in Munich. After earning a degree in industrial engineering, he returned to Daimler AG in 2003, holding various positions in aftersales, human resources, and corporate audit. In 2014, he moved to Beijing, China, where he headed Corporate Audit for Greater China. He subsequently served as Head of Finance & Controlling and CFO for Daimler Truck China Ltd., before becoming Commercial Director Mercedes‑Benz Trucks and Co‑CFO at the joint venture Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co. (BFDA). Since 2023, Tropper has led the Corporate Audit department at Daimler Truck.

About the Mercedes‑Benz plant Mannheim

Founded in 1908 in Mannheim‑Waldhof on Luzenberg, the plant employs more than 4,600 people, producing engines and associated components for commercial vehicles. It serves as Daimler Truck’s center of competence for battery technologies and high‑voltage systems, contributing significantly to the series production of the electrified product portfolio. The Battery Technology Center houses its own pilot line for prototype battery cell production, where development teams work on assembly concepts and systems for battery packs. The foundry at the plant ranks among the world’s leading manufacturers of iron vehicle casting components. The plant also operates Europe’s center for reconditioned engine production, refurbishing engines for commercial vehicles and passenger cars. Vocational training and securing young talent are equally important at Mannheim: with over 100 years of experience, more than 11,000 young people have completed their training at the site.
