Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Neu-Ulm/Steinfeld. Hermann Hock GmbH from Steinfeld is celebrating two anniversaries with a Setra TopClass touring coach. The Bavarian company recently took delivery of the S 516 HDH in time for the family-owned company’s 70th anniversary next year and during the anniversary year of the Setra brand, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.

The exterior design of the high-deck touring coach is modeled on an S 12. The coach from the historic Series 10 model range has been owned by the family business for 20 years and is still used for special events today.

Clear Visibility in All Weather Conditions

The S 516 HDH is equipped with a glass roof and offers 51 passengers comfortable seats with adjustable comfort headrests. In addition, the three-axle coach features all current driver assistance and safety systems that Daimler Buses currently offers. These include 360-degree cameras as well as the MirrorCam. The camera system replaces conventional exterior mirrors and provides the driver with an expanded field of vision through the side windows and significantly improved rear visibility in darkness through residual light amplification. Images from the heated cameras are transmitted to 15-inch monitors.

Not only these safety features and the vehicle’s high quality have convinced managing director Franz Hock to rely on Setra for many years: “With each new model series, Setra succeeds in setting new technical standards and, despite all of its innovations, preserving the brand’s original spirit of making travel a comfortable pleasure”.

Hermann Hock GmbH was founded in 1957 through the acquisition of the Goldstein bus company. The family-owned company took delivery of its first new touring coach in 1960, a Setra S 10 from the Series 10 model range. Today, the company, which is based in the Main-Spessart district northwest of Würzburg, operates a fleet of 42 Setra vehicles. The new touring coach will be used, among other things, for trips offered through the company’s own travel program throughout Europe. On its first trip, it took a travel group to Tuscany and the island of Elba.

Touring Coach Delivered During Setra Anniversary Year

Seventy-five years have passed since the presentation of the first self-supporting Setra S 8 touring coach. The vehicle’s unveiling in 1951 marked the beginning of the Setra success story, which continues to this day. Over the past 75 years, the brand has set benchmarks in European bus manufacturing with a total of six model series and has helped shape and advance the industry.
