Stuttgart – In the current episode of his podcast “Transportation Matters”, Martin Daum, Chairman of the Board of Daimler Truck AG, talks to Bernd Heid, Senior Partner at McKinsey, about the future role of hydrogen. Heid heads the platform for climate technologies at McKinsey and is committed to a green energy transition in cooperation with the Hydrogen Council and its member companies. The Hydrogen Council is a global CEO-led initiative of 132 leading energy, transport, industry and investment companies with a united and long-term vision to develop the hydrogen economy.

“Too expensive, not efficient, only luxury” – prejudices about hydrogen are widespread and controversially discussed. Politicians and industry continue to question the extent to which we really need hydrogen for the zero emissions economy and zero emissions transport in the future. In the podcast discussion, they clear up myths about the energy source and agree that hydrogen is not another hype, but will make a significant contribution to making important parts of the economy and, in particular, transport CO2-free.
“If we want to decarbonize this planet, we need hydrogen as energy carrier,” says Bernd Heid.
