  • Jürgen Hartwig, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG, responsible for Human Resources and Labor Director: " Daimler Truck assumes responsibility for society, we want to do our part to change things for the better; on a large scale - consistently pursuing our path to CO2-neutral transport - and on a small scale - directly on site, as here on the forest area with our committed employees."
  • Peter Naumann, graduate forest engineer and board member for Corporate Social Responsibility at Bergwaldprojekt e.V.: "The introduction of these hardwoods improves the humus build-up and stability of the forest, thus ensuring a better supply of drinking water and more biodiversity in the Baden-Baden municipal forest in the long term. Daimler Truck employees are making a valuable contribution here to species-rich and resilient forests of the future."

Leinfelden-Echterdingen - As part of the Daimler Truck Cares initiative, Daimler Truck and more than 100 employees are supporting the nature conservation organization Bergwaldprojekt e.V. in the near-natural replanting of damaged forest areas. The voluntary two-day project took place at the end of March in a forest area affected by storm damage in the Sandweier district of the Baden-Baden municipal forestry office in Baden-Württemberg. The entire area was severely damaged by a local tornado last year.

With the expertise of the Baden-Baden Municipal Forestry Office and the Bergwaldprojekt e.V., 700 new tree seedlings such as oaks, sweet chestnuts, and hornbeams were planted to stabilize the sensitive ecosystem. In addition, Daimler Truck employees erected twelve large wooden fences, so-called horde gates, to protect the new plantations against browsing by game. The community service work took place in cooperation with the Baden-Baden Municipal Forestry Office in the Sandweier drinking water catchment area. The aim of this voluntary project assignment is to strengthen the resilience of the forest ecosystem by introducing native tree species and to sensitize participants to the responsible use of natural resources.

Jürgen Hartwig, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG, responsible for Human Resources and Labor Director: "Daimler Truck assumes responsibility for society, we want to do our part to change things for the better; on a large scale - consistently pursuing our path to CO2-neutral transport - and on a small scale - directly on site, as here on the forest area with our committed employees."

Peter Naumann, graduate engineer in forestry and board member for corporate social responsibility at Bergwaldprojekt e.V., comments: "The introduction of these hardwoods improves the humus build-up and stability of the forest, thus ensuring a better supply of drinking water and more biodiversity in the Baden-Baden municipal forest in the long term. Daimler Truck employees are making a valuable contribution here to species-rich and resilient forests of the future."

Alina Klumpp, industrial engineer at the Daimler Truck: "We have planted 700 trees, erected twelve protective fences and rejuvenated 2.5 hectares of forest close to its natural state - together with our colleagues we have achieved a lot here. It's important to me to do something for the environment, and not just because I grew up in the area. It was really fun and I'd like to swap my computer and office chair for a spade and hammer more often."

As an independent, listed company, Daimler Truck has set itself a framework for its responsible actions and focuses on the three topics of "Environment," "Social Responsibility," and "Responsible Corporate Management. The company aims to be a "good corporate citizen" at all its locations worldwide. To this end, it promotes continuous dialog with citizens, the community, associations, politicians, and relevant stakeholders. Daimler Truck lives up to its social responsibility in global and regional projects - Daimler Truck Cares.
