Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Andrew “Andy” Johnson (53), currently Head of Corporate Communications at Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), will succeed Jörg Howe as Head of Global Communications & External Affairs Daimler Truck as of January 1, 2026.
Andy started working for Daimler Truck North America at the Portland truck manufacturing plant in 1991 during his university studies. After graduation in Business Administration (Advertising and Marketing), he joined the company in the warranty department before becoming a marketing specialist. Since then, he held a variety of leadership roles as Communications and Brand Manager at Freightliner and Western Star. In his current role, he leads Corporate Communications across North America for Daimler Truck since 2021.

In his future role as Head of Global Communications and External Affairs, Andy will provide strategic leadership in shaping Daimler Truck’s global communications approach, advancing the company’s reputation, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with business objectives. He will oversee all facets of global communications, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across internal and external channels, while reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and corporate responsibility.
Jörg Howe (68) will retire at the end of this year after 17 years at Daimler AG and Daimler Truck AG. Jörg began his remarkable career as a freelance journalist for the German broadcaster ARD and as a correspondent for dpa newswire. He was Editorial Director, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of Sat.1 and Managing Director of N24. In 2004, he took over Corporate Communications at KarstadtQuelle/Arcandor. From 2008, he was responsible for the Global Communications of Daimler AG, before he moved to Daimler Truck in 2021. He then became Head of Global Communications and External Affairs at Daimler Truck.
