Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Mannheim – At the end of October, Omnibusverkehr Spillmann GmbH took delivery of an extraordinary service bus at the Mannheim omnibus plant. Managing Director Bülent Menekse, in collaboration with the Mercedes-Benz bus designers, has created another themed vehicle for his fleet. Hermann Fröhlich, Head of Sales Daimler Buses Region Southwest, and Michael Graff, Sales Daimler Buses Region Southwest, handed over the symbolic key for the new “City Stretch Limousine” based on the Mercedes-Benz Citaro hybrid service bus.
The modular concept allows design flexibility
With the exceptionally designed Citaro hybrid, Spillmann remains true to its creative fleet. The company has already realised well over 30 themed vehicles with Mercedes-Benz buses, all unique pieces that enhance local transport in and around Bietigheim-Bissingen. The name Spillmann has long been synonymous with extraordinary bus-based local transport. With the wide range of design options offered by the Citaro modular system for both exterior and interior styling, the Mercedes-Benz bus is the ideal platform for such creative solutions
Inside, Spillmann has opted for muted colours and refined materials. The dark flooring contrasts strikingly with the light, beige-coloured seats made of Composition leather. The side walls are printed with atmospheric image motifs. Overall, the colour scheme appears elegant and conveys the sense of exclusivity and glamour typical of stretch limousines. The same applies to the driver’s workstation, which is separated from the passenger area by a high driver protection screen. The piping and headrest of the driver’s seat are finished in the same Composition leather as the passenger seats.
The exterior also plays with the design features of a luxury limousine. The white Citaro has been given a straight window line by removing its characteristic side contour with the suggested wheel arches using foil. In addition, the roof edge has been highlighted with white foil and visually lowered. This creates a narrow, darkened window area that makes the vehicle appear longer, lower and more exclusive. Following the design concept, the front panel is covered with chrome foil to stylise a chrome radiator grille, while the rear is adorned with the shape of a boomerang antenna.
