Stuttgart / Groß-Zimmern. Winzenhöler GmbH & Co. KG, a bus company operating out of southern Hesse, has updated its fleet with 20 new vehicles from the Mercedes-Benz and Setra brands. These buses were chosen after winning a Europe-wide tender on behalf of the Rhein Main Verkehrsverbund (RMV) transport association.

Nine Setra S 416 LE business low-entry buses and one Setra S 415 LE business bus will run the X-Bus routes from Darmstadt to Darmstadt-Dieburg and Odenwald. Ten Mercedes-Benz Citaro city buses, including eight articulated vehicles, will serve various regional bus routes in Darmstadt-Dieburg and Odenwald.

Each of these vehicles has a Sideguard Assist system on board. This system warns the bus driver about objects moving on the access side, which helps keep pedestrians and cyclists safe.

Founded in 1933 and managed by third-generation son Christian Winzenhöler, this medium-sized company operates around 50 buses from its headquarters in Groß-Zimmern and from Industriepark Höchst, transporting several thousand passengers a day in the Rhine-Main region. It focuses on the districts Darmstadt-Dieburg, Odenwald, and the cities Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt.

Service contracts ensure that the deployed buses remain reliable. “Premium” OMNIplus service contracts enable companies to make long-term predictions while also ensuring that buses are always available. These contracts cover maintenance as well as repairs to the entire vehicle and powertrain – including all repairs related to wear and tear.
