Kurt Sievers was born in Augsburg, Germany, in 1969. He holds a Master of Science degree in physics and computer science from the University in Augsburg, Germany.

Kurt Sievers joined Philips in 1995 and held a number of management positions, including product definition and development, marketing and sales, strategy and general management in various market segments. As head of the automotive business, he was part of the management of NXP Semiconductors, a former division of Philips Electronics, since 2009. In this role, he was directly involved in NXP's IPO on the Nasdaq in New York in 2010 and in the strategic acquisition of Freescale Semiconductor in 2016.

From 2018 to 2025, Kurt Sievers has been President of NXP and was responsible for all of the company's business units. He was also CEO of NXP from 2020 to 2025 and served as Executive Director on NXP’s Board of Directors.
