Two-lane road to a circular economy: Mercedes-Benz Trucks unveils the reECONIC – a battery-electric vehicle made from recycled materials

How can a holistic circular economy be achieved in the commercial vehicle sector? A sustainability alliance of 33 partners—led by the Daimler Truck division Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the waste collection vehicle specialist FAUN Umwelttechnik, and the recycling company TSR Group—demonstrates this with the concept vehicle “reECONIC.” The partners have manufactured the battery-electric waste collection vehicle, based on the Mercedes-Benz eEconic, in a particularly resource-efficient manner.

Electrically into the Future: Gebrüder Weiss Sets New Benchmarks in Heavy-Duty Transport with 14 eActros 600 Trucks

Since the end of 2025, Austrian logistics provider Gebrüder Weiss has been operating fourteen Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks. The vehicles are deployed in daily general cargo, scheduled line-haul and long-distance operations at the company’s locations in Vienna, Pöchlarn, Wels and Hall in Tyrol, as well as at its headquarters in Lauterach.

At IFAT 2026, the world’s leading trade fair for water, wastewater, waste, and resource management, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will present a comprehensive portfolio of vehicle solutions for municipal operations and the circular economy from May 4 to 7. With a total of eleven vehicles, the manufacturer will demonstrate how everyday municipal tasks can be handled efficiently and confidently.
