Vehicle profile - The Mercedes-Benz eCitaro exhibition vehicle: Technical data
- Remarkable battery configuration for 500 kilometres range
- Unsurpassed assistance and safety systems, 360° camera system
- Attractively designed passenger compartment
Daimler Buses is asking transport operators to participate in the rapid development of battery technology for all-electric city buses. The Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with NMC4 batteries underlines this. With an energy capacity of more than 550 kWh, it can replace conventionally powered city buses – and therefore has comprehensive appeal for fleets, drivers and passengers.
Remarkable battery configuration for 500 kilometres range
Five high-voltage battery packs with a total energy capacity of 555 kWh, spread across the roof (three packs) and the rear (two packs), ensure a range of 500 kilometres2 for the two-door solo bus. The exhibition vehicle has been designed for plug-in charging in the depot and can flexibly approach different charging positions with charging sockets above the front axle on the right and in the rear on the left.
Unsurpassed assistance and safety systems, 360° camera system
Safety is always a top priority in Mercedes-Benz buses. The eCitaro on display is equipped with the 360° camera system. It provides crucial assistance to drivers when precise manoeuvring is required, at the depot, in the garage, or along narrow sections of a route. Preventive Brake Assist 2, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist, the intelligent speed assistant and the tyre pressure monitoring system TPM are almost taken for granted. Safety and support for the driver also include the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System as well as the activatable speed limit of 33 km/h – a significant relief when driving in speed-restricted areas. The limit can be set to other speeds depending on the usage profile.
Attractively designed passenger compartment
Passengers select their seats on the City Star Eco from comfortable seating produced at our own factory. The seat and backrest of the 35 passenger seats are upholstered in black fabric. A fresh and inviting atmosphere are provided in the low-floor city bus by green ceiling handrails, ambient lighting with continuous blue light strips above the aisle and windows as well as wood-effect flooring. The special-purpose area opposite door two can be used in a variety of ways: there is space for a wheelchair or pram and the leaning surface facing against the direction of travel has a folding seat. As an alternative to the standing area, the vehicle can also be equipped with two additional folding seats facing in the direction of travel. The infotainment system includes a large 29-inch TFT monitor behind the channel running across the vehicle. Passengers can charge their mobile devices at 14 double USB sockets.
All these features are framed by elegant bottle green metallic paintwork (including on detachable parts). The result is a highly attractive Mercedes-Benz eCitaro exhibition vehicle with NMC4 batteries.
2 The range was determined internally under specific conditions, including equipment with maximum battery capacity, battery in as-delivered condition, in typical city bus operation and in a moderate weather scenario, and may, for example, deviate from the values determined in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. The actual range depends on the individual use of the vehicle, the vehicle configuration and other external factors. For this reason, the actual range may be below or above the specified value.
