The transition to e-mobility in a bus fleet requires a comprehensive approach that goes beyond the vehicle itself. Successful operation of electric buses requires infrastructure, charge management, day-to-day operations and service to be coordinated within a single ecosystem.

With OMNIplus Charge, Daimler Buses brings together its e-mobility infrastructure services under a single brand. The offering ranges from initial consultation and feasibility analysis to the planning, implementation and commissioning of complete charging solutions for electric buses, including electrical installations, chargers, energy storage systems, charge management and other digital services.

“One Face to the Customer”: from initial consultation to turnkey delivery

With OMNIplus Charge, every customer has a dedicated advisor who supports them from the initial consultation through to the turnkey handover of the infrastructure and electric bus fleet.

The process begins with comprehensive consultation and a feasibility analysis tailored to the needs of each operator. Based on real operating conditions, routes are analysed and a customised charging concept is defined. This may include depot charging via plug, pantograph or charging rail, as well as opportunity charging. Where required, hydrogen supply for fuel cell models is also taken into account.

Comprehensive service for charging infrastructure

OMNIplus Charge also supports operators in defining and implementing the required infrastructure. This includes evaluating the most suitable charging solutions, dimensioning the power supply, assessing the potential integration of stationary battery storage or solar installations, and adapting the depot layout to optimise the positioning of charging points.

Advice also covers the most suitable technology, the selection of charging infrastructure suppliers, energy management systems and the necessary construction measures. During the implementation phase, a central project management team coordinates the work and oversees execution. This is complemented by maintenance and servicing of the chargers by in-house service technicians as part of long-term customer support.

Hydrogen infrastructure as part of the offering

In addition to charging solutions for battery-electric buses, OMNIplus Charge also offers complete concepts for hydrogen infrastructure. In each case, the technical solution best suited to the operator’s requirements is assessed.

Having an operator’s own hydrogen refuelling station is not always the most appropriate solution. As an alternative, customers can benefit from the strategic partnership between Daimler Buses and H2 Mobility, Europe’s largest operator of hydrogen refuelling stations. Where required, new stations can be developed close to the transport operator’s premises or even a dedicated dispenser installed at the depot, allowing the operator to avoid a significant share of the investment and operational risks.

Charge management with Sinos

To ensure smooth operation of both electric buses and charging infrastructure, Daimler Buses also offers a charge management solution with Sinos, tailored to operators’ requirements.

The system continuously monitors charging processes, adjusts charging power according to operational requirements and can also control vehicle preconditioning so that buses are ready for service on time. The customer’s IT systems can also be integrated via interfaces, enabling centralised management. Sinos also helps optimise electricity costs and provides a complete visualisation of the depot and the vehicles.

Solutions for operators with different operational needs

OMNIplus Charge has already participated in dozens of e-mobility projects for operators of different sizes, ranging from large urban transport companies to medium-sized businesses. These include projects for operators such as Stadtwerke Bonn, HTM in The Hague, VY Buss in Östersund and RVWB in Wettingen, as well as the contract to plan and build a complete electric bus depot for MOIN Mobilitätsinfrastruktur und -betriebs GmbH in the district of Lüneburg.

In addition, OMNIplus Charge offers a comprehensive Charging-as-a-Service solution for customers who do not wish to make the infrastructure investment themselves. Under this model, Daimler Buses installs, operates and maintains the charging infrastructure at the customer’s depot, while the customer pays an agreed amount per kilowatt-hour consumed.
