- Attractive yet economical hybrid bus for intercity routes and excursions
- Versatile equipment for everyday use
- Attractive cockpit, highly efficient drive system, unrivalled safety
The compact Intouro K hybrid test vehicle is very versatile. It is predestined for applications that require excellent handling capacities and great manoeuvrability, for example when driving along mountain passes and winding country roads, driving into old town quarters and moving the bus on routes with manageable passenger numbers. In addition to its use in intercity operation, the comfortable seating also makes it suitable for excursions.
Attractive yet economical appearance
The Intouro K hybrid test vehicle is characterised by its elegant, functional and practical equipment. The body and detachable body parts are painted in attractively elegant anthracite metallic. With bright bi-xenon headlamps on the one hand and cost-effective and easy-to-replace outside mirrors mounted on tubular frames on the other, this Intouro visually demonstrates already from its exterior appearance the wide range of the intercity bus. Thanks to the hybrid system, it is also extremely economical to drive.
Versatile equipment for everyday use
With its destination display, its mounting pin for payment systems and its preparation for installing ticket printers and ticket validators, the Intouro K hybrid has been perfectly adapted to scheduled regular service operation. There are also grab bars, a multifunctional special-purpose area with four folding seats opposite door 2, a passenger signalling system and a bus stop hazard warning system. The two-wing entrance door at the centre of the bus also ensures fast passenger turnaround at bus stops.
The test vehicle also offers the necessary comfort for excursions with smaller groups, even on longer routes. The matching interior has been skillfully designed: In the vehicle interior, the Intouro K hybrid features the comfortable Travel Star Eco seating. The seats are equipped with adjustable backrests. They are featuring seat cushions and backrests with upholstery in Tiffy grey fabric, with May green piping as a colour highlight and jet black headrests made from Composition leather fibre material.
Luggage racks with grids in a mesh design, the side wall trim with needle felt and grey curtains at the double-glazed windows contribute to the pleasant atmosphere on board, as does the grey patterned floor. Another plus: Passengers can use their devices regardless of how the bus is used, benefitting from the MediaRouter for Internet access and streaming.
Attractive cockpit, highly efficient drive system, unrivalled safety
The cockpit of the Intouro K hybrid is driver-oriented and offers perfect ergonomics. In terms of looks and equipment, from the multifunction steering wheel to the electronic parking brake, it is as luxurious as the driver's place of work in a fully-fledged touring coach. The cab door provides a certain distance in scheduled regular service application, while the cabinet in the front-end assembly provides generous and most welcome stowage space.
The drive is powerful. The compact Mercedes-Benz OM 936 six-cylinder in-line engine operates economically and with low emissions thanks to recuperation and hybrid module. It delivers 260 kW (354 hp) and has a displacement of 7.7 litres. It is connected to the ZF Ecolife 2 automatic transmission with torque converter and a Mercedes-Benz hypoid axle. The automatic transmission with torque converter meets high comfort requirements and operates efficiently. The hybrid module, which is available as an optional extra, further reduces fuel consumption and thus emissions of the powerful and equally economic drivetrain.
With its extensive and innovative safety equipment, the test vehicle proves to be a true role model in its class. Its equipment with a comprehensive range of assistance systems is outstanding: The Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5) emergency braking assistant is the only system of its kind in buses that can perform maximum full-stop braking manoeuvres even in case of moving pedestrians. The optional radar-based Sideguard Assist with pedestrian detection warns of people and obstacles when turning. Both systems support the driver and provide effective protection for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians or cyclists. Along with conventional assistance systems, this ensures that the Intouro K hybrid achieves an exemplary safety level.
